In 2003 Kjell Hahn designed a memorial for instructor Miyuki Takenaka (武中みゆき）at Himeji Higashi high school in Himeji, Japan. Mrs. Takenaka was a beloved instructor and role-model. Her sudden death was a loss for the entire commuunity.
The school asked for roses, a garden and Himeji Castle in the design.
