I moved to Gunma-Ken in the summer of 2008 in part to work with local artist Chiaki Horikoshi and have access to his anagama kiln. Flamenco set designer, painter, author, and sometimes potter/ filmmaker Mr. Horikoshi connects the small art community in Onishi with Tokyo. Since Chiaki is primarily a painter with a hands-off approach to the kiln I have a lot more freedom to experiment during the firing than when working under John Dix; whose livelihood depends on the results.
