American Artist Kjell Hahn firing and working at Japanese artist Chiaki Horikoshi's anagama kiln in Onishi Japan. Mr. Hahn runs Shiro Oni studio and art residency., located about 15 minutes from the kiln site.

We finished firing the kiln. It took 10 days to get everything ready, cut the wood, load, and fire the kiln, then clean up the site.
we wont know the result for a week when we open the kiln, but its almost worth all the work just getting everyone together, working on a project for a week on the mountain. This was also the closest I've been to being in charge of a firing and have a much better feel for running a angama now. I've come up with a lot of new ideas that will help streamline the whole process and hopefully produce some better pots the next time around.
