a friend who lives on a nearby mountain had been talking to me a while back about some free stainless steel tanks he thought i might use for brewing beer. figuring there is a good reason for anything being free, I didnt think much of the suggestion. i imagined some old oil drums, half buried in mud behind some guy's house. then last week, I saw my friend on the mountain farm (he owns part of it). we talked a little more about the tanks and made a date to check them out together.

apparently my suspicion of the crazy old guy trying to give away old oil drums was a little off. the tanks are in perfect condition and the man who owns them only used them to store water. i heard the owner got caught mixing tap water in with the spring water he was selling-kind of putting him out of business. the tanks are about as good as you are going to get without spending a ton of money. there are 4, each is between 2000 and 3000 liters. there is also a botteling station, a capping machine for the taking and my mountain friend offered to throw in a refrigerated storage room if i needed it for fermentation.

i dont really know what to think. i had been talking about possibly selling beer, but didnt expect someone to offer me over 25K worth of equipment to go ahead and do it.
