Landscape Assemblage borrows from the same framework as the Oni Landscape series, namely building a visual environment based in observation, but not restricted to any specific form. This differs from traditional drawing where one builds the image with the universal academic toolkit. The formulaic system churns out representations the viewer recognizes all too quickly: a+b+c= completed drawing. Landscape Assemblage combines portions of observational drawings over the last few years. The series suggests images; mountains, a group of clouds in the sky or figures interacting, but never something concrete enough for the viewer to mentally catalogue into a specific scene. Normally, once the eye identifies an object it immediately locks it away with similar images and then moves on. Landscape Assemblage challenges this natural tendency, offering something without an obvious conclusion; a new visual environment for the viewer to explore.
